ENERGY STAR® windows is a program designed to help consumers identify energy efficient windows, doors and skylights. By choosing ENERGY STAR® window products you can cut down your heating and cooling costs, and make your home more comfortable at the same time. ENERGY STAR® labeled windows are twice as energy efficient as the average window produced just ten years ago.

ENERGY STAR® Windows is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy and manufacturers of windows, doors and skylights. The program was introduced by Secretary of Energy Federico Peña on March 6, 1998 in suburban Washington, DC.

Foam-Filled Frame and Sash
In select ARC window systems, the hollows inside the vinyl frame and sash (optional on some models) is filled with Natural Foam. Natural Foam is polyurethane filling much like that found in a refrigerator. This foam improves the thermal performance of ARC’s vinyl frames to an insulating factor of R-25*. This added insulation adds to the high performance levels achieved by every ARC Window and makes them more energy efficient.
 

Heat Mirror® Glazing

Heat Mirror glass is one of most revolutionary developments in window glazing. Heat Mirror is a polyester film suspended in the air space between the two panes of insulating glass. It's hard to see with your eyes but the performance is quite apparent. Depending on the glazing system chosen for your ARC window, you can achieve a center of glass R-value of 9.09**.

But Heat Mirror glazing systems offer even more! The Heat Mirror film is coated with special materials that block harmful UV rays. UV or Ultra Violet radiation is produced by sunlight and is responsible for sun burn and melanoma. These rays can also damage interior fabrics, furniture, and draperies. Depending on the glazing system chosen for your ARC Windows, you can block 99.5% of all harmful UV rays.

In the summer, Heat Mirror glazing works to reflect heat and harmful UV radiation away from the home.			In the winter, Heat Mirror glazing allows sunlight into the home while retaining radiated heat inside the home.
